Research on the “Art and Science of Human Flourishing” Course for College Students
In the video below, Robert Roeser, Bennett Pierce Professor of Caring and Compassion at Penn State, presents the model of flourishing developed by the Student Flourishing Initiative, an initiative led by a group of scholars from Penn State, the University of Virginia, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He introduces a series of studies focused on the teaching and student impacts of the “Art and Science of Human Flourishing” course, now completed by approximately 1,000 undergraduate students at the three universities. These outcomes of the “Art and Science of Human Flourishing” course are discussed:
- attentional and social/emotional skills
- meaning and perspectives on flourishing
- physical and mental health.
