The purpose of this workshop is to explore teachings and practices of compassion within a Jewish spiritual context. How is compassion defined and cultivated within this tradition and what are its intended benefits? The goal is to expose researchers and practitioners to diverse views of compassion and compassion training practices.
Dr. Robert W. Roeser will host Rabbi Sheila Peltz Feinberg for this event. Dr. Roeser is the Bennett Pierce Chair in Care and Compassion and does research on compassion and mindfulness training in relation to processes of teaching and learning in K-16 education.
Rabbi Weinberg served as a congregational rabbi for seventeen years and has published widely on such topics as feminism, spiritual direction, parenting, social justice and mindfulness from a Jewish perspective. She is creator and co-leader of the Jewish Mindfulness Teacher Training Program.
