Improving education is not merely an organizational problem or a political problem.
To get different results, we need to change what students are asked to know and be able to do, and how they are engaged in their learning and with each other. This presentation will show documentary clips of some innovative programs in middle schools and high schools designed to improve student learning in both academic and non-cognitive domains. Some preliminary results from research on the impact of these programs on student performance will be presented. In addition, there will be a discussion of entrepreneurship in the social sector.
