In this talk, researchers from the Transition Design Institute (TDI) at Carnegie Mellon University will discuss their transdisciplinary approach for addressing complex, wicked problems. They will discuss how the approach was used in a recent project for The Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center to address the problem of “A Lack of Funding for Minority Entrepreneurs”. The research objectives were to:
1) to develop a systemic overview of the problem;
2) to map perspectives from stakeholders connected to or affected by the problem;
3) to concrete visions of long-term futures in which the problem had been addressed; and
4) to propose systemic interventions that would begin to address the problem in the present.
TDI’s research objective was to provide other research partners with a systemic overview that could inform their scopes of research, both qualitative and quantitative.
