Sport is the most common out-of-school time activity for youth in the United States and physical activity is widely known to be important for health, but many active youth do not continue to have active lifestyles once they enter adulthood. This talk will focus on factors that can make sport environments more likely to support youth on trajectories toward health and continued physical activity.

About the speaker: Jennifer P. Agans conducts research in the fields of youth development and recreation, seeking to promote healthy lifestyles and support youth programs. Her research focuses on youth experiences in sport and other out-of-school time physical activity contexts and the links between these experiences and positive development and health across the life span. In this work, she also collaborates with practitioners to evaluate youth programs and understand their impact on participants. Past partner programs include Positive Coaching Alliance, the American Circus Educators / American Youth Circus Organization, and New York State 4-H.

This seminar will also be broadcast online via Zoom at https://psu.zoom.us/j/988552131.
