Taylor Scott‘s scholarship is situated at the intersection of research, policy, and impact. Her scholarship advances understanding of research translation, science communication, and the conditions under which research is most likely to inform policy and practice. She has mixed-methods expertise, applying rigorous qualitative and quantitative designs, selecting the most appropriate approach based on how new the topic is. She uses qualitative inquiry to inform the development of quantitative metrics for evaluating research translation practices within experimental trials. Her work advances methodological approaches that allow research translation to be systematically studied, tested, and improved.

As executive director of the Research Translation Platform, Dr. Scott oversees an interdisciplinary team implementing research translation practices within experimental studies. Her leadership emphasizes fidelity to theory-based models while adapting implementation to complex institutional and policy environments. Her work has been supported by the William T. Grant Foundation, National Science Foundation, NICHD, NIDA, numerous philanthropies, and the Social Science Research Institution at Penn State.

I'm inspired to serve the public by supporting more effective policymaking and transforming the way science benefits real people.
