Kimberly Mallett is a research professor who has been with the Center for more than a decade. During that time, she has come to appreciate the supportive and collaborative environment that is present among her colleagues. She joined the Center in 2005, after completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Washington. Through her work, Kimberly hopes to improve the lives of people and reduce substance abuse and chronic illness.
Dr. Mallett has authored 100 peer-reviewed articles, which have appeared in publications such as Psychology of Addictive Behaviors and Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs. For nearly 20 years, her research has focused on developing and evaluating interventions aimed at reducing high-risk drinking, polysubstance use and related consequences among college students, and the prevention of skin cancer among high-risk populations.
In the future, Dr. Mallett hopes to examine how the use of efficacious interventions can be adapted to prevent the development of chronic alcohol problems for use in other health domains, and promote overall well-being.
I am committed to improving the lives of people by examining ways to reduce substance abuse, chronic illness, and improve overall well-being.
