Emma Skogseth is a doctoral candidate in Human Development and Family Studies and a PAMT predoctoral fellow.  Her research involves examining pathways to treatment and treatment outcomes among women with co-occurring substance use disorder and serious mental illness to develop interventions addressing both diagnoses simultaneously. By using sophisticated methodological techniques to identify facilitators and barriers to treatment, Emma aims to extend the impact of her work beyond intervention development to also inform targeted prevention strategies that support comprehensive, accessible care and improve long-term recovery outcomes for affected women.

Emma earned her bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Psychology at Central Michigan University in 2022 and her master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State in 2024.
