Blake Colaianne is committed to reshaping education to create more space for students to explore human development and contemplative education.

As an Assistant Research Professor, Blake focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of contemplative trainings that support the social and emotional skills of high school and college students, as well as the adults who care for them. His approach to contemplative education intersects human development theory with mind/body practices to cultivate skills of mindfulness, compassion, and interconnection.

Blake teaches undergraduate courses on human flourishing, mindfulness, and community building. He is trained as a relational facilitator through the Courage of Care organization and facilitates mindfulness and compassion trainings for schools, universities, and workplaces.

Blake completed his PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State and his M. Ed. in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in earth science education from Juniata College. Prior to graduate school, Blake was a high school science teacher for five years.

I am committed to creating more caring and liberating school environments.
