Sustainment Phase
During the Sustainment Phase, the focus is on learning from experience and finding ways to improve existing mindfulness programs and practices so that they become fully embedded into the culture of the educational community.
Assessing & Addressing Needs & Problems
Use existing knowledge, skills, and resources within the school to assess and respond to needs and problems that may arise for teachers and students. If formal mindfulness programs have been implemented, ensure that ongoing fidelity monitoring is taking place.
Ongoing Staff Development & Support
Support staff development and retention by providing specialized training and supportive coaching on a regular basis, offering resources to both new members of staff and those already engaged with Whole-School Mindfulness programs and practices.
Formalized Embedding
Incorporate mindfulness training into standard professional development for new school or district hires, training program champions to be trainers where possible, and integrate ongoing Whole-School Mindfulness tasks into existing job descriptions.
Reevaluation And Recommitment
Be open to adapting mindfulness programs and practices in response to changing needs and context. Use critical thinking to ensure that the wellbeing of the entire educational community remains at the center of all Whole-School Mindfulness interventions.
