Shixin Fang (she/her) is a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies and a PAMT predoctoral fellow. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of how general and minority stressors impact the health outcomes (e.g., substance use, mental health) and relationship well-being (e.g., couple relationship functioning, coparenting satisfaction) of sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals. Currently, she is interested in applying the daily dairy method and ecological moment assessment to better understand the relationships between stress and substance use among SGM populations.

Shixin is mentored by Samantha Tornello, associate professor of human development and family studies. Her PAMT mentors are Cara Exten and Emily Ansell, associate professor of biobehavioral health. She received her M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University and a B.Ed. in Early Childhood Education with honors from The Beijing Normal University.
