Mary Lisa Penilla has 20+ years of experience in public health in a variety of contexts and professional settings. She joined the Evidence2Success team in 2018 as a research assistant, leveraging an interest in design and storytelling to create data visualizations and accessible reporting formats for funders, community partners, and the public. As a research project manager, Mary Lisa handles the day-to-day management and administration of the project, attending to pressing details while engaging in big-picture thinking with an approach that is strengths-based, time-specific, and team-oriented.
Her evolving career path has included employment in community organizing, research- and public health nursing, and school-based art programming. Mary Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Public Service from the University of Notre Dame, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University, and has completed coursework for a Certificate in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University.
I’m grateful to work with an amazing team at the PRC that is passionate about working with communities to use, interpret, and translate data into action. Seeing communities valued as experts in their own experiences is exciting, and goes to the root of improving youth, family, and community health in the long-term.
