Jocelyn Anderson‘s research focuses on the physical and mental health outcomes of violence, and interventions to prevent and respond to violence. She is particularly interested in using technology-based interventions to improve health and justice outcomes at the intersections of violence, substance use, and mental health issues.

While many of the people Dr. Anderson works with both in clinical and research settings have already experienced violence, she says that “so many opportunities for secondary and tertiary prevention exist given the plethora of negative health, social, and economic consequences violence has on individuals, families, and communities.”

Dr. Anderson has trained at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, earning her MSN (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Forensic Nursing Focus) and Ph.D.; and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where she completed postdoctoral fellowship training focused on adolescent research in community settings. She earned her undergraduate degree in nursing in 2008 at St. Cloud State University. She is also an internationally certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner providing medical forensic care for patients who have experienced physical or sexual violence.
