Christy Tomascik started her work in prevention research with the PROSPER project in 2002 and began working for the PRC in 2012. She started as a Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14 facilitator and soon became a team member then team leader. She worked as a team leader in Luzerne and Northumberland County. Christy also served as a prevention coordinator for teams in Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Susquehanna counties. This gave her the opportunity to implement evidence-based programs across Pennsylvania. Working with school districts, families, and youth in substance use prevention, social-emotional learning and family strengths has been her passion.
As a mother of four, Christy appreciates that prevention science can improve the lives of youth and families. She is looking forward to her new projects that are expanding PROSPER to new rural counties and school districts. Christy enjoys mentoring new team leaders and prevention coordinators to join our prevention efforts. When she is not working, Christy enjoys spending time and traveling with her family.
