As a full professor, Charisse Nixon is actively engaged in both academic and applied work. In addition to her faculty role, she serves as Associate Director of the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research, and Evaluation (CORE) at Penn State Behrend. Her research focuses on evaluating preventive interventions that enhance students’ protective factors and reduce peer mistreatment in school contexts. She recently developed a Penn State course (PSYCH 217N) centered on the science of resilience. Building student resilience through effective mentoring is a central focus of her work.
