Catherine Jantzer manages the “Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE) for Special Educators” research project, connecting qualitative and quantitative researchers from Penn State, Georgia State, and the State University of New York at Albany with special education teachers in the Atlanta metropolitan area to help them better manage classroom stress.

Catherine’s primary research interests include classroom quality and emotion regulation. She holds degrees in Liberal Arts and Human Development from Penn State, and certification in international Montessori education, project management, and classroom quality assessments. She has been supporting Penn State research for more than 20 years.

Catherine serves as Penn State’s Trainer and Lead Observer for the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and she assesses classroom quality across the United States for all grades from preschool through twelfth grade. She is delighted to be applying CARE Professional Development and CLASS Observations within the special education context.
