I learned so much about genetic responses, stress translation into adulthood, gene expression, and environmental regulation by interviewing Patricia Broderick, who is a psychologist in child development, a research associate with the Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center, and author of the textbook The Life Span: Human Development for Helping Professionals (2024, Pearson). During our conversation, we discussed how stress and environments affect your gene expression which can change your health. It is important to look at what/who are the enhancers for our environments to promote our wellbeing.
In this video, Patricia Broderick talks about human social genomics and how this stems from an ancient genetic response to stress that has been passed down over human evolution.
