The Pathways to Desistance study is a longitudinal investigation of how serious adolescent offenders make the transition from adolescence into early adulthood. A sample of 1,354 serious adolescent offenders were followed for seven years after their court involvement. A broad range of factors were measured regularly over time, including developmental indicators, life changes, and involvements with the legal and social service systems. Several findings relevant to juvenile justice policy will be highlighted and discussed.
