Research and practice show that recovery and healing are not driven by treatment alone. Long before recovery begins, people need compassion, connection, and a sense of belonging.
In this session, the speaker explores the founding vision of Impact Life to examine how kinship becomes a powerful tool for change. By centering dignity, belonging, and shared humanity, the discussion will highlight:
- How compassion and connection support healing before recovery;
- The role of kinship in creating trust and meaningful relationships;
- Ways community-centered approaches can strengthen prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts.
Participants will gain insight into how healing often begins well before formal recovery—and how fostering kinship creates the conditions where both healing and recovery can take hold.
This webinar is part of a series hosted by the REACH (Resilient, Engaged, Active Community Health) project and funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
