Dr. Moore will explore strategies and emerging evidence on integrating healthcare and social care systems to address nutrition-related disparities. Drawing on her research and real-world examples, she will share how cross-sector collaborations can:

  • enhance service delivery,
  • reduce fragmentation, and
  • promote equitable health outcomes, particularly among families experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage.

Moore will emphasize practical implications and applications of these approaches to bridging gaps between pediatricians and community-based programs (Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)), with a focus on maternal and child health.

About the Speaker

Amy Moore, Ph.D., RD, is an assistant professor of Nutritional Sciences and Food Science/Extension at Penn State. Her research centers on maternal and child health, examining structural and psychosocial factors that influence dietary behaviors among socioeconomically disadvantaged families. Her work also involves facilitating cross-sector partnerships to integrate often siloed health care and social care systems, aiming to reduce nutrition-related disparities and chronic disease risk.
