The Center for Health Care and Policy Research (CHCPR) in the College of Health and Human Development is an active collaborator with academic and outreach partners both inside and outside Penn State in the development of research projects that address complex problems in health care. Specific areas of strength include: community-based collaborative approaches to improving health care delivery, health systems, and cost and quality outcomes; patient-centered care and patient engagement and behavior change; health reform implementation; and the use of behavioral economics for motivating behavior change. Research has been funded by the NIH, Commonwealth Fund, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, among others. Dennis Scanlon, Ph.D., CHCPR Director and Professor of Health Policy and Administration, will describe the Center’s current research and scholarship initiatives in the health services, followed by a discussion of ways centers may collaborate with CHCPR on projects focusing on significant health and health care topics.
