In this presentation, Dr. McKown will describe the pressing need for scalable, feasible, psychometrically sound and informative methods of assessing children’s socialemotional development in the elementary grades. He will describe SELweb, a webbased assessment system that he and his colleagues have developed to address this need. Dr. McKown will report findings from two field trials to evaluate SELweb’s psychometric properties. Finally, Dr. McKown will discuss SELweb’s practical value to professionals concerned about children’s social-emotional development.
