Peter Bordi has been working in prevention research for 37 years. He has a passion for developing new food products to help peoples’ post-workout needs, such as Dr. Pete’s Recovery Drink that is well-known among the Penn State community. Peter is currently working on the development of a drink that helps cancer patients recover from chemotherapy and radiation.
He initially developed an interest in prevention research for the very purpose of helping food companies develop healthy new foods. Peter has collaborated with Sheetz, Cumberland Farms, Olive Garden, Hershey Foods, Cargill, Super Bakery, and Disney, among others. He has authored 59 peer-reviewed journal articles that have appeared in publications such as Journal of the American Heart Association and Journal of Food Processing Technology. Recently, Peter has received awards for excellence in teaching from the College of Health and Human Development. He is currently an Associate Professor of Hospitality Management and the Director at the Center of Food Innovation in the School of Hospitality Management.
