Early Childhood Care and Education Project
Start Date: 2002
On April 17, 2002 Pennsylvania's Governor Schweiker issued an Executive Order for a Task Force on Early Childhood Care and Education, which has been charged with examining the full range of proven, evidence based strategies available to early childhood care and education targeted at children ages 0-5, and the existing commonwealth services targeted to that age group.

To support Governor Schweiker's Task Force, the University Childrens
Policy Collaborative (UCPC), consisting of researchers from Penn State
University, Temple University, and the University of Pittsburgh, has undertaken a number of studies
including a Survey of PA Families, a Survey of Child Care and Education
Settings, a Survey of Early Childhood Training and Educational Opportunities,
and a Review of Best Practices across Domains of Early Childhood.
